A new patient is being brought to the Manhattan psychiatric hospital. This strange man wears black glasses and claims to have come to earth from the planet K-Pax and calls himself Prot. Despite the efforts of Dr. Mark Powell, the strange patient continues to claim the existence of his homeland and sets a planned date for his departure.
